John Yob began with Senator McCain as Midwest Political Director in 2005 and moved up to Deputy National Political Director, and led national political operations from September of 2007 until March of 2008. He literally slept on the office floor in Washington DC. At one point, McCain registered at 3% in the polls and was considered finished, but the team he helped assemble resurrected the campaign and eventually went on to win the nomination in one of the most stunning political comebacks in recent political history.

The systems John had built in Michigan from 1998 until 2006 were used in overseeing over thirty successful state conventions for McCain-Palin 2008.

In the 2010 Election Cycle, John re-formed Strategic National and opened the headquarters Grand Rapids, MI and established satellite offices across the country.
