History of Grassroots Leadership

Grand Rapids has long been a political powerhouse and Strategic National was founded as a way to help the grassroots have their voices heard and be represented in Republican Party. Chuck Yob moved up through the grassroots base of the Republican Party and served as Precinct Delegate, County Finance Chairman, County Chairman, District Chairman, National Committeeman, Presidential Campaign Co-Chairman, RNC Vice Chairman, and RNC Convention Co-Chairman.

Chuck ran for RNC Chairman in 1997 and was narrowly bested by Jim Nicholson on the 1st ballot by just seven votes. Chuck endorsed Nicholson and the subsequent momentum led Nicholson to election as Chairman of the Republican National Committee.

He served as Republican National Committee Vice Chairman throughout the 2000’s and did not run for re-election as National Committeeman in 2008.
